If you're based in Jaipur or just passing through, Pushkar is closer, and further removed from city noise, than most people realise.
The distance: roughly 145 km, a straightforward 2.5–3 hour drive via Ajmer. Easily doable by car, bus, or a train into Ajmer followed by a short local transfer.
It's a genuinely easy drive too, mostly highway, with the landscape gradually shifting from Jaipur's traffic to open countryside somewhere past Ajmer, which makes for a nice enough transition on its own that you arrive already a little more relaxed than when you left.
How the weekend could look:
Friday evening: Slip out of Jaipur once the workday ends, roll into camp in time for dinner
Saturday morning: A sunrise or late-morning camel safari, followed by a rural village tour
Saturday afternoon: Ease off back at camp, or head into Pushkar town for the lake, the Brahma Temple, and a slow walk through the bazaar
Saturday evening: Jeep safari at sunset, then back to camp for a bonfire dinner and Kalbeliya folk dance
Sunday morning: A relaxed breakfast, maybe a quick trip up the Savitri Temple ropeway, then the drive back to Jaipur by early evening
Why it works better than the usual weekend trip: a city-to-city weekend is mostly more sightseeing at a different address. A Pushkar desert camp weekend is an actual reset, open sky instead of traffic noise, mornings that don't start with a phone screen, evenings built around firelight instead of a restaurant menu.
